Privacy Policy
Customcom is a specialist research consultancy that enables nonprofit organisations to obtain independent feedback from their supporters and other stakeholders. The purpose of such feedback is to improve how the nonprofit communicates with these groups and seeks to engage them in the mission of the organisation. In general, apart from recruitment, Customcom does not seek to gather or use identifiable information from research participants: reporting is aggregated, with no personal information. Organisations engaging Customcom manage their own database except as agreed for a strictly limited purpose. Where Customcom uses the services of a provider, strict confidentiality obligations are in place. At no time is any identifiable information shared with third parties for other purposes. No identifiable personal information about participants is kept, nor tied to findings, by Customcom.
Participants in research conducted by Customcom can be reassured of privacy: information is collected on an anonymous basis unless otherwise advised, in advance. While research participants may be asked to voluntarily supply demographic details for the purpose of segmented analysis, no personally identifiable information is typically sought. Where a competition is offered as an incentive for survey participation, it is conducted as a separate, opt-in activity to the survey and personal details are only sought for the purpose of identifying a winner. Where focus groups or interviews offer a financial incentive for participation, such as a prepaid grocery card to a specified value, names and contact information will be passed on to the client only for the express and sole purpose of recording participation. Occasionally, where it is the aim of the research to update a pre-existing database, for example, such as communication preferences or areas of interest for its stakeholders, that is, personal information is asked, potential participants are invited on this basis and must opt in to participate. In brief, participation in research is anonymous unless advised otherwise; in all cases, is opt-in and participants may freely withdraw at any time.
Customcom’s policy is to gather data anonymously and report it in aggregated form: any exceptions to this are made clear in advance. No identifiable information, if any is held during a project, will continue to be held at the end of three months of a project’s conclusion.
At all times, Customcom is committed to maintaining the privacy of supporters or other stakeholders and seeks to resolve any privacy issues promptly with due consideration. If you have any concerns or questions regarding privacy, please contact Principal Dr Kym Madden at the earliest opportunity: kmadden@customcom.com.au or PO Box 217 Peregian Beach Qld Australia 4573.
This policy is effective from 12 November 2015 and may, from time to time, be amended. Although it is the intention of Customcom to observe this Privacy Policy at all times, it is not legally binding on Customcom in any way. From time to time, it may be necessary or desirable to act outside the policy. Customcom may do so subject only to any other applicable contractual rights and any statutory rights under the Privacy Act or other applicable legislation.
